16-year-old Naseem Shah created a lot of hype before getting his maiden Test call for Pakistan. He made headlines for his fiery bowling at a very young age. Shah received his Test cap on Thursday at The Gabba before the start of play in the First Test.

In a video doing rounds on social media, Naseem can be seen getting emotional after coach Waqar Younis gave him the cap. The teenager kissed the cap and then hugged his teammate Shaheen Afridi.

The young fast bowler wiped off his tears and acknowledged his teammate's support. His mother had passed away before the first Test. But he didn't go back to Pakistan for the funeral to play for the country.

Before making his debut, Naseem played the game against Australia A at Perth. He is the youngest player to play on Australian soil.

Australia batsman Steve Smith looked excited to compete against the youngster. “He’s half my age. It’ll be interesting … 16 is young.”

“I dare say you’d be pretty nervous at 16 playing a Test match, particularly away from home. He’s obviously got some skill if they’re picking him and you don’t take anyone lightly.

“For us, we’ll be trying to get as many overs into him as possible and trying to wear him down. He wouldn’t be used to bowling lots and lots of overs, so that’ll be the plan,” he told AFP
