The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 will be played in India from September 30, and the World Cup trophy was unveiled with 50 days to go for the mega event. India will play Sri Lanka in the tournament opener in Bengaluru.

Their big clash against Pakistan will happen on October 5 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, as the tournament is being played in a hybrid model, as decided earlier.

Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of India, stated on Monday that her team is committed to ending its ICC trophy drought at the ODI Women's World Cup starting next month. The series against title favorites Australia will provide the squad with a clear image of its current position before the big event at home.

Despite coming close on a few occasions, including the 2017 ODI World Cup in England, where they placed second, India has never taken home a world championship.

"We want to break that barrier that all Indians are waiting for. World Cups are always special. I always want to do something special for my country. Whenever I see Yuvi bhaiya (Yuvraj Singh), it gives me a lot of motivation," Harmanpreet said at the trophy unveiling ceremony for the ODI World Cup.

Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, ex-India captain Mithali Raj, and Harmanpreet's teammates Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues were also part of the function, along with ICC chief Jay Shah and BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia.

After defeating England in both the ODI and T20 formats at home, India enters the Australia series on September 14 with a lot of confidence. September 30 marks the opening of the World Cup.

“Playing against Australia is always challenging, and we get to know what our standing is. The series (three ODIs vs Australia) will give us a lot of confidence. We have been putting a lot of effort into our training camps, and the results are showing," said Harmanpreet.

Her match-winning 171 in the semifinal against Australia back in 2017 remains fresh in Harmanpreet's mind.

"That knock was something really special to me and entire women's cricket. A lot of things changed for me after that knock. When we came back to India, even though we had lost, a lot of people were waiting and cheering for us. I still get goosebumps," she added.
