Arch-rivals India and Pakistan, who fought a full-scale war last month, are set to square off on the cricket field on October 5 in Colombo during the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup, TOI reported on Monday (June 16).
Earlier this year, the BCCI and PCB agreed upon a hybrid model, as per which, Pakistan will play all their matches in Colombo -- a neutral venue. Hence, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side will travel to Colombo for the marquee group-stage fixture.
The eight-team tournament is slated to get underway on September 30, with hosts India taking on Sri Lanka in Bengaluru.
Australia will lock horns with Trans-Tasman rivals and defending champions New Zealand in Indore on October 1.
The first semifinal will be held in Guwahati or Colombo (depending on Pakistan’s qualification) on October 29, while Bengaluru will host the second semifinal on October 30. The title clash will be played on November 2 in either Bengaluru or Colombo.
Matches will take place across five cities — Bengaluru, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, and Indore in India, and Colombo in Sri Lanka.
