India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur came under the scanner for her ugly on-field behaviour during the third WODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka last month.

After being adjudged caught at slip, Harmanpreet lost her cool and hit the stumps with her bat. While walking back to the pavilion, she gestured towards the umpire that there was a bat involved and also slammed the match officials in the presentation ceremony.

Kaur was found guilty of breaching article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, relating to “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision”. As a result, she was slapped with a two-match ban.

She may have received flak from the cricket fraternity and also been reprimanded by the apex body, but Harmanpreet has no regret over her temperamental outburst.

“I will not say that I regret anything because at the end of the day as a player you want to see that fair things are happening. As a player, you always have the right to express yourself and what you’re feeling,” Kaur was quoted as saying by The Cricket Paper.

“I don’t think I said anything wrong to any player or any person. I just said what happened on the field. I don’t regret anything,” she added.

Apart from the ban, Harmanpreet was also slapped with three demerit points for “showing dissent at an umpiring decision” and one more for “public criticism” of match officials.

Due to the ban, Harmanpreet Kaur will miss India’s first two matches at the Hanghzou Asian Games in September-October. She is currently plying her trade in the Women’s Hundred for Trent Rockets.
