Smriti Mandhana achieves career-best rating points, retains 3rd spot in ICC Women's T20I rankings for batters

Smriti Mandhana | GettyIndia opener Smriti Mandhana has achieved a career-best 741 rating points while retaining her third position in the latest ICC Women's T20I Player Rankings for batters.

Mandhana, who slammed 49-ball 79 in India’s Super Over win over Australia in the second Women’s T20I, gained 11 rating points to attain the feat.

Australia's Tahlia McGrath is the new No.1 in the rankings for batters, following her impressive exploits in the first two T20Is of the ongoing series against India in Mumbai.

Tahlia played unbeaten knocks of 40 and 70, surpassing compatriots Meg Lanning and Beth Mooney as well as Mandhana to become the fourth Australian and 12th batter to top the Women's T20I rankings.

Mooney was occupying the top spot since August 3 this year when she overtook Lanning. McGrath reached the summit position after playing only 16 games. The last woman to reach the top in fewer matches was West Indies' Stafanie Taylor in 2010 (15 matches).

Two more Indians, Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues, also feature in the list of top-10 Women’s T20I batters, with the former gaining a place to be at sixth position.

In the T20I ranking for bowlers, India's Deepti Sharma and Renuka Singh Thakur have retained their third and fourth spots respectively, with England leg-spinner Sarah Glenn up one place to second behind compatriot Sophie Ecclestone.
