Women’s Asia Cup 2022: Cricket fraternity congratulates Indian team on winning the title by crushing Sri Lanka in final

India restricted Sri Lanka to a paltry 65/9 in the Women's Asia Cup 2022 final.

Renuka Singh starred with the ball in India's title-clinching win | Asian Cricket CouncilIndian cricket team bagged the Women’s Asia Cup 2022 title with a crushing eight-wicket victory over Sri Lanka at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday (October 15).

In the all-important final, India restricted the opposition to a paltry 65/9 in 20 overs. Sri Lanka did well to cross the 50-run mark considering that they were reeling at 32/8 at one stage.

Pace spearhead Renuka Singh starred with the ball for India, claiming three wickets by conceding only five runs in her three overs. Spinners Rajeshwari Gayakwad (2-16) and Sneh Rana (2-13) also returned with impressive bowling figures, taking two scalps each in their four overs.

The Women in Blue were also outstanding on the field as they dismissed Sri Lanka’s opening pair of Chamari Athapaththu and Anushka Sanjeewani through run-out.

In reply, India rode on opener Smriti Mandhana’s unbeaten 51 off 25 balls to overhaul the target in just 8.3 overs.

With this victory, the Indian women’s cricket team clinched the Asia Cup title for the seventh time.

Cricket fraternity congratulated the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian team for winning the Women’s Asia Cup 2022 trophy with a dominating performance in the final.
