The Sri Lanka women's cricket team, on Thursday, October 13, 2022, defeated Pakistan in the second semi-final match of the ongoing Asia Cup tournament in Sylhet, Bangladesh in a thrilling encounter by one run and qualified for the final, where they will clash with India on October 15.
Posting 122/6 in 20 overs with Harshitha Samarawickrama’s 36 and Anushka Sanjeewani’s 25 being the top scores. Nashra Sandhu picked 3/17 for Pakistan women.
In reply, Pakistan was cruising in their chase and at one time, needed 20 runs in 20 balls with 7 wickets in hand. Captain Bismah Maroof made 42 and Nida Dar made 26 runs, but some tight bowling and excellent fielding meant that enough pressure was built on the Pakistan batters, for them to crumble.

Pakistan was unable to find boundaries in the final overs as the team just couldn't find the gaps and lost wickets at crucial junctures.
Requiring 3 off the last ball to win, Nida Dar got run out going for the second run which would have tied the match and resulted in Sri Lanka winning by 1 run and making it into the finals.
After the match, the Sri Lanka cricketers celebrated by dancing in a well-choreographed way and the video of which was shared by Sri Lanka Cricket Board’s official Twitter account.
