Veteran seamer Jhulan Goswami's 20-year international career came to an end on September 24, as she played her final game for India at Lord's. India won the low-scoring clash against England by 16 runs to take the ODI series 3-0, having already secured the series after winning the first two games.
Goswami made her debut in 2002, and retired with 355 international wickets to her name, most for any bowler in women's cricket. 255 of those wickets came in the ODI format, again a record in women's cricket. The 39-year-old carried the pace attack on her shoulders for two decades and until her last day was among the top seamers in world cricket.
On Saturday, she took 2/30 in her quota of ten overs with three maidens, picking up the wickets of Alice Capsey and Kate Cross, with the latter's wicket coming in her final over in international cricket. She played a key role in India defending the target of 170 successfully to sweep the series.
It was a fitting end to an illustrious career and the Indian Men's cricket team members hailed her contribution and services to Indian cricket.
