In what was a shocking development, all-rounder Deandra Dottin called time on her cricketing career for the West Indies. She took to her Twitter account and announced her retirement.
Dottin cited that the current team environment has been non-conductive to her ability to thrive, which is the main reason behind her announcing the retirement.
Dottin, who is currently playing for Barbados in the Commonwealth Games 2022, has been amongst the finest to have played the game. She represented West Indies in 143 ODIs and 126 T20Is, amassing 3727 runs with the highest score of 150* and 2689 runs with a best of 112* respectively.

She has also taken 134 wickets in white-ball cricket. She finished as the second-highest run-scorer for the West Indies in women's ODIs as well as T20Is.
Dottin highlighted the reason behind her retirement, saying that she’s no longer able to adhere to team culture and environment.
"This announcement has come with much contemplation as cricket has always been a passion of mine. However, when the fire burns out, one has to take time to reassess their commitment," Deandra Dottin said.
"There have been many obstacles during my cricket career that I have had to overcome however, the current climate and team environment has been non-conductive to my ability to thrive and reignite my passion.
"With much sadness but without regret, I realise that I am no longer able to adhere to team culture and team environment as it has undermined my ability to perform excellently,” she added.
Dottin will continue playing for Barbados in the ongoing CWG 2022. Her side is next slated to play India, which will be a do-or-die encounter for them, on Wednesday (3rd August).
