Indian women's team skipper Harmanpreet Kaur talked about her side’s performance in the CWG 2022 clash against Pakistan. She was quite pleased with how her side performed and also talked about her team’s goal.

After a disappointing start to their Commonwealth games 2022 campaign, where they suffered a 3-wicket loss to Australia, Indian women made a staggering comeback and crushed arch-rivals Pakistan to register their first win of the tournament.

Asked to bowl first, Indians displayed great skill with the bowl as they never let Pakistani batters settle in and on account of Sneh Rana and Radha Yadav’s two-wicket hauls, they bundled out the opposition for just 99 in what was a rain-curtailed match.

Smriti Mandhana then took Pakistani bowlers to the cleaners and smashed unbeaten 63 runs in 42 balls to take her side home with 8 wickets in hand.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Harmanpreet Kaur said that she was pleased with her side as they were positive in their approach and this win was important for them as it will help them to carry the momentum to the next games.

“We were quite positive. Even in the last game, we played good cricket in patches and everybody knew that today’s game was important for us as we would be able to carry the momentum into the next matches. The way our team played today, I was quite pleased," Harmanpreet Kaur said.

Harmanpreet further said that the NCA camp with VVS Laxman ahead of the CWG helped them a lot.

"It is very important to have a positive and in the NCA camp held ahead of the CWG we worked on that. We even had a session with VVS Laxman which helped us a lot,” she added.

Harmanpreet Kaur talked about her team’s ultimate objective. She said that their only reason behind coming to CWG is to win the gold medal.

“The only reason behind coming here is to win the gold medal and I am quite happy with today's performance," she said.

India will now face Barbados in their third group game, and a win in the match would ensure them a place in the semi-final of the CWG 2022.
