Women’s T20 cricket made its debut at the Commonwealth Games. The tournament kick-started with a high-octane clash between India and Australia at Edgbaston, which saw the Meg Lanning-led side clinch the nervy match by three wickets.

Ahead of the match, batting great Sachin Tendulkar expressed his happiness with cricket returning to the Commonwealth Games. He also wished the Indian women’s team luck for their campaign and hoped that a new audience will be attracted by the sports.

"Wonderful to see cricket back in the Commonwealth Games. Hope this takes our beautiful game to newer audiences. Best wishes to @BCCIWomen's team for their #CWG22 campaign," Sachin Tendulkar tweeted.

Reacting to Tendulkar’s tweet, Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne said: "Agreed Sachin. Aus v India is going to be an amazing opener too."

Labuschagne’s tweet didn’t go well with the fans on Twitter as they slammed the Australian for calling the former Indian cricketer ‘Sachin’ instead of ‘Sachin Sir’.
