Indian women’s cricket team registered a convincing five-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the second T20I at Dambulla on Saturday (June 25).
Opting to bat first, the hosts posted 125/7 in their 20 overs. It was a listless performance as only two batters managed to reach the double-digit score. Vishmi Gunaratne was the top scorer with 45 while skipper Chamari Athapaththu scored 43.
Deepti Sharma (2-34) picked two wickets for India while Pooja Vastrakar (1-18), Renuka Singh (1-26), Radha Yadav (1-15) and Harmanpreet Kaur (1-12) claimed one scalp each.
In reply, the visitors rode on Smriti Mandhana’s 34-ball 39 and skipper Harmanpreet’s unbeaten 31 to get over the line with five deliveries to spare.
With this victory, the Women in Blue took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series.
