Pakistan on Tuesday (March 8) suffered another embarrassing defeat in the ongoing Women’s World Cup as Australia thrashed them by seven wickets in Mount Maunganui.
Invited to bat first, Pakistan managed to post a paltry 190/6 in their 50 overs and the Southern Stars chased down the total with 92 balls to spare.
There were very few positives for the Women in Green to draw out from this game. Despite losing partners at regular intervals, skipper Bismah Maroof played an unbeaten innings of 78. Her 122-ball knock was studded with 8 fours.
Bismah also caught the attention for her special celebration after completing the half-century. The Pakistan captain gestured a cradle, suggesting that she is dedicating the milestone to her 6-month-old daughter Fatima.
The clip of the adorable moment is going viral on social media with netizens showering their love on it.

Coming to the match, Alyssa Healy starred with the bat for Australia. She slammed 72 off 79 balls in the chase while opening the innings. Skipper Mag Lanning (35) and Alyssa Healy (34) also made handy contributions with the bat.
Speaking after the game, Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof said: “We gave too many wickets away early on. We got a decent total, but we couldn’t stop them. We could have been better in the field, we dropped too many catches. In the meeting we had discussed that someone from the top order had to bat deep. It was a special performance with my daughter around, I had to make it count. We need to put up a good total, so that the bowlers get a chance to defend.”
