CWC 2022: ICC causes confusion over scorecard for India-South Africa warmup match; Yastika Bhatia clarifies

India beat South Africa by 2 runs in the final scorecard.

Harmanpreet Kaur score 103 runs | GettyInternational Cricket Council (ICC) caused utter confusion with regards to the scorecard of the Women’s World Cup 2022 warmup match between India and South Africa at the Mainpower Oval, in Rangiora.

India batted first after losing the toss and thanks to 103 from Harmanpreet Kaur and 58 from Yastika Bhatia, posted 244/9 in 50 overs. Ayabonga Khaka picked 3/23 in 7 overs.

In reply, South Africa only managed 242/7 in 50 overs, with Rajeshwari Gayakwad picking four wickets. India won the match by 2 runs in a close encounter.

However, there was huge confusion over the final scorecard as the ICC website continuously changed the outcome of the match.

At first, the scorecard stated that South Africa defeated India by four wickets, however, half an hour later, a scoresheet went viral on social media suggesting that India won the match by two runs.

Photo- ICCBut after a few minutes, the ICC website again updated the scorecard and eventually, it showed how India actually won the match by two runs. South Africa needed eight runs to win in the final over, but they managed to score just five, and in the end, India won the contest by 2 runs.

Photo- ICCHowever, in the end, it was confirmed that Indian women won the match by 2 runs, as India batter Yastika Bhatia clarified on Twitter.
