A BCCI official has on Thursday (August 2) revealed that the strict isolation is beginning to take a toll on the Indian women’s players having been confined in “tiny” hotel rooms in Brisbane.
It's only been 4 days of the Indian women’s two week hard quarantine in Australia and it is becoming increasingly difficult for the players to spend a day in isolation, which is beginning to take a toll on the tourists.
The official also revealed that rooms given to the Indian players are too small at the government’s institutional quarantine facility in Brisbane with players somehow managing to do light training.
A BCCI official told PTI: “The rooms are way too small. You barely manage to move around and do some training. There are no guards manning the place like the players witnessed in the UK but it is very strict.”
The official further added, “The food served though is okay and there is a change in the menu every day. It will be a challenging two weeks.”
The Indian team arrived in Brisbane on Monday (August 30) after the change in the schedule of the multi-format series, comprising of three ODIs, a day-night Test, and three T20Is, against Australia due to COVID-19 related restrictions in Sydney, Perth, and Melbourne.
Well, now all the matches of the Australia-India series will be played in Queensland from September 21.
Noteworthy, Australia has imposed some of the harshest restrictions on international travelers to curb the spread of the COVID-19 in the country.
