Indian women's team arrive in Bengaluru; to undergo 5-day quarantine before training camp

Indian women's cricket team players have started assembling in Bengaluru for the training camp ahead of their multi-format tour of Australia in September-October.

However, the India women squads for the full-fledged Australia tour are yet to be announced, but around 30 cricketers have been asked to assemble in Bengaluru by Tuesday (August 10). The Indian women players will start camp on August 16 after six-day quarantine in Bengaluru.

Five Indian players Shafali Verma, Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, Deepti Sharma, and Jemimah Rodrigues – who all are currently playing in the Hundred, will be joining the Bengaluru camp next week.

The Hundred runs till 21 August and the girls have been asked to reach Bengaluru by August 22 as they all have to undergo six-day quarantine before leaving for Australia.

Sources in the know of developments told ANI: “Yes, there is a camp. Tomorrow onwards, it is five-day quarantine in Bengaluru and then the camp will start from Monday (August 16).”

India and Australia women are set to play three ODIs, one-off Test, and three T20Is in September-October this year with the tour starting with the first ODI on September 19 in North Sydney Oval.

The Indian team will depart for Australia from Bengaluru either on August 29 or 30 and then they will have to undergo 14-day quarantine upon arrival in Australia before the first ODI in Sydney.

A BCCI official told PTI: “The first week in Australia will be hard quarantine. After that, the team is likely to be given permission to train for the next seven days as they complete their quarantine.”

Notably, the India players are expected to practice with the pink-ball during the training camp to prepare for the first pink-ball Test at the WACA in Perth
