India women's cricketer Harleen Deol took a jaw-dropping catch in the first T20I against England. She showed good presence of mind and athleticism to get rid of England batter Amy Ellen Jones.
Harleen's catch was appreciated by several politicians and cricket veterans. Even India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded her for the extraordinary effort which is now going viral on social media.
The 23-year-old was fielding at the long-off when she pulled off an absolute stunner on the boundary. She stretched full length to catch the ball but had to throw the ball in after the momentum took her over the boundary ropes. Harleen was quick to react and dive in to complete the catch.
"Phenomenal! Well done @deol.harleen304," wrote the Indian Prime Minister while reacting to the superb catch.
Unfortunately, India couldn't win the first T20I after England women posted a big total of 178/7 on the board in 20 overs. They ended up winning the match by 18 runs (DLS method) after India scored only 54/3 in 8.4 overs before rain stopped the play.
