Mithali Raj played a captain’s knock as Indian women’s team registered a consolation four-wicket victory over England Women in the third ODI at Worcester on Saturday (July 3).
Opting to bowl first, the visitors restricted England to 219 in 47 overs-a-side contest on the back of Deepti Sharma’s stunning bowling performance (3-47). Natalie Sciver was the top scorer for the home team with 59-ball 49.
In reply, India overhauled the target with three balls to spare. While batting at No. 4, skipper Mithali stayed in the middle till the end to guide her team over the line, scoring 75 not out off 86 deliveries with 8 fours.
Smriti Mandhana also played a valuable knock of 57-ball 49 at the top while Sneh Rana (24 off 22 balls) contributed handy runs down the order.
Despite the win, Indian women’s team conceded the three-match series 2-1, having lost the first two ODIs.
