ENGW v INDW 2021: Every minute of representing India in whites is worth it - Smriti Mandhana

The one-off Test Match between England women and Indian women ended in a draw.

Indian women’s team batter Smirti Mandhana on Twitter said that every moment of representing the country in the Test match against England was worth it.

Indian women’s team scripted a famous draw against England women’s team in Bristol. Made to follow-on, Mithali Raj-led side once again crumbled as they found themselves tumbling at 199 for 7 in their second innings.

However, debutant Sneh Rana and Taniya Bhatia featured in an incredible 104* runs partnership for the ninth wicket and earned a hard-fought draw for India Women in Bristol.

Sneh Rana batted for 195 minutes and scored an unbeaten 80 in 154 balls while Taniya Bhatia occupied the crease for 115 minutes and remained unbeaten on 44 from 88 balls. India made 344 for 8 in 121 overs in their second innings as the Test ended in a draw.

Smriti Mandhana tweeted that playing a Test match for India was a special and emotional moment. She also lauded the debutants, who rose to the occasion and delivered. 

“A very special and emotional moment to represent India in white, and every minute has been worth it! A huge shoutout to the striking performances by our girls on their debuts; we’re all so proud of you,” Smriti Mandhana Tweeted. 

Smriti Mandhana also played her part in the one-off Test match against England women, playing a brilliant knock of 78 in the first innings, smashing 14 fours in her 155-ball knock. 

She along with 17-year old Shafali Verma added 167 runs for the opening wicket in the first innings and recorded the highest opening stand for India Women in Tests.
