Cricket Australia said that Australia women’s team day-night Test match against India women’s team later this year will be played on a fresh pitch at the WACA ground in Perth.
The Indian women’s team is set to tour Australia in September-October later this year, where they will play a day/night Test match and a series of 3 WODI matches, and 3 WT20I matches.
Cricket Australia’s decision to host a Test match on a fresh pitch came England women team’s captain Heather Knight expressed displeasure at a used pitch being given for her side's one-off Test against India in Bristol.
Talking about the same CA Head of Operations Peter Roach said that, unlike the ECB, CA has always provided fresh pitches for women's Tests and it will be done for the India women vs Australia women's Test match as well.
He added that CA feels that such a step is important to ensure the rise of women's cricket.
"It's standard practice in Australia to ensure fresh pitches are available for all men's and women's Test matches and this season will be no different. We have seen the women's game rise to a new level in recent times and it is important we provide the platform for that trend to continue,” Peter Roach told 7Cricket.
Peter Roach further said that they are confident that facilities for women’s Test matches will be of the highest standard.
"The WACA Ground and Manuka Oval are terrific venues for Test cricket and with first-class ground staff, we are extremely confident that the facilities for the two women's Tests will be of the highest standard,” he said.
The WACA Test between India and Australia women's teams will be India women's first-ever day-night Test match.
