The Indian women's cricket team has completed the first dose of OVID-19 vaccination on Thursday (May 27) as the girls are gearing up for the multi-format tour of England next month.
All the girls of the UK tour-bound India Women have been given Covishield ahead of their upcoming tour of England as the women’s team is all set to travel alongside the men’s team on June 2 for the series.
The Indian women team is currently in strict quarantine in Mumbai and will begin their UK tour with a one-off Test against England Women in Bristol from June 16 followed by three ODIs and as many T20Is.
Sources in the know of developments revealed that most of the players of the India women contingent have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination in their respective cities while those who didn’t get the jab have been given Covishield in Mumbai on Thursday.
Like the men’s team, the Indian women’s players will also get the second dose of COVID-19 vaccination through the UK health department when their turn comes up in England.
Speaking to ANI, sources close to the developments said: “All the players of the women's team have got their first dose of vaccination. Most of them got it in their respective cities, while a few who didn't, got their first jabs on Thursday.”
Meanwhile, India spin all-rounder Deepti Sharma shared a picture of her taking the jab on Thursday on Twitter.
She tweeted, “Though I am a little scared of needles, but I still got myself vaccinated today. I urge people to please get vaccinated as soon as they can! #GotTheDose #We4Vaccine #CovidVaccine.”
