Indian women's team to play a Test match against Australia after England

India women last played Test against Australia in 2006.

Indian women’s team are set to tour England where they will play a one-off Test match and a series of 3 WODI matches and 3 WT20I matches.

The one-off Test match against England will mark the women’s team playing a Test match after seven years and it is learned that they will play another Test match along with WT20Is and WODIs when they will tour Australia later this year. 

Talking about the same BCCI official said that the Indian Women’s team will play a Test match when they will tour Australia or play at home against them. He added that the idea of playing a Test match against England and Australia was discussed in the Apex council meeting.

"England and Australia are the two teams that still play Tests and going forward you will see a Test slotted in when they visit India or when India tour the two countries.

"The idea was floated on the sidelines of the men's pink-ball Test and later discussed in the Apex Council meeting (last month),” a BCCI official told PTI.

The Women’s team is scheduled to gather with Men’s team in Mumbai to begin their two-week hard quarantine ahead of their UK tour. 

The Indian women’s team recently got a new coach in former India off-spinner Ramesh Powar for the UK tour. The retired Indian cricketer took over from WV Raman as the coach of the women’s team.
