In order to engage fans over social media during the three-team Women's T20 Challenge, starting Wednesday (November 4), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has collaborated with Twitter India to launch seven new custom emojis that can be used for teams and players while the much-anticipated event is on in Sharjah.
"Fans will be able to activate these emojis by tweeting with the following hashtags: #MithaliRaj or #Mithali, #Harmanpreet or #Harman, #Smriti or #SM18, #WomensT20Challenge, #Velocity, #Supernovas, and #Trailblazers," a report by ANI states. "This is the first time that an Indian women's sports league has got its own Twitter emoji."
Previously, only the great Mithali Raj, skipper of team Velocity, had gotten an emoji on her among Indian players during the 2017 World Cup in the UK.
Fans can show heartfelt support to their favourite teams and players through the use of these emojis. They will "also be able to follow and participate in live conversations".
Team Trailblazers and Supernovas will be led by Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur, respectively.
The tournament begins with Supernovas taking on Velocity, followed by the match on November 5 that puts Velocity against Trailblazers. The league-stage rounds off with Trailblazers facing Supernovas on November 7. The final will be played on November 9.
All matches will start on 7:30 PM IST except the second game that will be played from 3:30 PM IST.
