England’s three-time Women’s World Cup winner Laura Marsh has on Wednesday (August 12) announced her retirement from all forms of the cricket.
The 33-year-old off-spinner had called time on her glorious 13-year-old international career in December 2019, but the cancellation of inaugural Women’s The Hundred this year due to COVID-19 pandemic has convinced her say goodbye to the domestic cricket too on Wednesday.

Marsh, who began playing cricket at 11, made her England debut in 2006 and managed 217 international wickets, which made her the most successful spinner in the history of English women's cricket, as well as, England's third-highest wicket-taker in ODI cricket.
She had finished as the leading wicket-taker in England's 2009 ICC Women's World Cup win with 16 wickets, as well as, was also part of their T20 World Cup success in that year and World Cup in 2017.
March announced her retirement on Twitter with a series of tweets on Wednesday. She started by saying: “I have made the decision to retire from all forms of cricket. With the cancellation of The Hundred competition this year, I feel that it is the right time to hang up the boots. I want to say a huge thank you to all the teams and organizations I have represented over the years.”

She also thanked all her domestic teams that have played role in her development as players, adding: “I owe a huge amount to both Kent & Sussex for the role they played in my development as a player. Big thanks also to The Surrey Stars, Sydney Sixers, NSW Breakers, and Otago Sparks. Every team I played for developed me as a player and a person and I am fortunate to have made.”
The former all-rounder signed off, “Some lifelong friends and memories over the years. I am excited about the next chapter and look forward to giving back to the game that has given me so much.”
