England Women cricketers are all set to return to individual training next week, as the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) continue with their plans for a proposed Tri-series featuring India Women and South Africa Women this September amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ECB on Thursday (June 18) announced a 24-member Women’s squad for the individual training camp across six venues from June 22 hoping to host India and South Africa later this year.

Amidst the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak, the ECB has been trying to convince both the BCCI and the Cricket South Africa to agree for a tri-series but nothing has been finalized as yet.

The ECB said in a statement: “The players will return across six venues, initially training on their own before progressing to small group training. Squads for specific formats will be named in due course, subject to confirmation of the proposed series.”

The training sessions will take place under the same medical guidelines and bio-secure conditions men’s team has been following due to the COVID-19 threat.

Meanwhile, the Women’s team will train at National Performance Centre, Loughborough; Emerald Headingley, Yorkshire; The Kia Oval, London; Bristol County Ground, Bristol; Chester Boughton Hall CC, Lancashire; and the 1st Central County Ground, Hove.

We've had great support from the First-Class counties with the use of their venues, and we're grateful to them for that, and hopefully, this is one step closer towards England Women returning to the field this summer.”
