India women continued their domination over the West Indies women by notching up a comprehensive 61-run victory in the fifth and final T20I at Province Stadium in Guyana on Wednesday (November 20). By virtue of this win, the Women in Blue also swept the series 5-0.

Opting to bat first, India posted 134/3 in 20 overs with contributions from Veda Krishnamurthy (57 not out off 48 balls) and Jemimah Rodrigues (50 off 56 balls).

Hayley Matthews and Aaliyah Alleyne claimed one wicket each for the hosts by conceding 23 runs in their stipulated four overs.

In reply, West Indies batswomen were once again found wanting against the India spinners. Off-spinner Anuja Patil was the stand-out bowler as she picked two wickets by conceding just three runs in her three overs. The other two spinners, Radha Yadav and Poonam Yadav, also scalped a wicket each and never allowed the home team to get any sort of momentum during their chase.

It was a disappointing batting performance from West Indies as Kyshona Knight (22) and Shemaine Campbelle (19) were the only batters to reach the double-digit mark.

Before the T20I series, India had also clinched the three-match ODI rubber 2-1.

Brief Scores:

India women – 134/3 in 20 overs (Veda Krishnamurthy 57*, Jemimah Rodrigues 50; Hayley Matthews 1/23) defeated West Indies women – 73/7 in 20 overs (Kyshona Knight 22, Shemaine Campbelle 19; Anuja Patil 2/3) by 61 runs.
