India Women clinch series by defeating South Africa women by 5 wickets in 5th T20I

Radha Yadav picked 3 wickets | GettyThe 5th T20I match of the 6-match series between India women and South Africa women was played at the Lalabhai Contractor Stadium in Surat on October 3. Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and chose to field first.

South Africa was never in the game as Indian bowlers kept taking wickets at regular intervals. Laura Wolvaardt made 17, Lizelle Lee made 16 and Lara Goodall made 15, while others failed to make much impact. Radha Yadav picked 3/23 and Deepti Sharma picked two wickets in two balls to end up with figures of 2/19.

In reply, India also lost Mandhana and Rodrigues for 7 runs each and Shafali Verma made 14. But in the end, Harmanpreet Kaur (34*) kept her calm to take the team to the win. Deepti Sharma contributed 16 runs. Kaur reached the 2000-run milestone in her 99th T20I game, making her the second Indian to reach this milestone after Mithali Raj and 8th overall.

India won the match by 5 wickets and 17 balls to spare.
