WI v IND 2019: COC Predicted India squads for the West Indies tour

WI v IND 2019: COC Predicted India squads for the West Indies tour

India to play 3 ODIs and T20Is and 2 Tests on the West Indies tour.

Virat Kohli will play in all the three formats | GettyAfter the completion of the ICC World Cup 2019, the Indian team will now look forward to taking on West Indies in a 2-Test, 3-ODI and 2-T20I series in the Caribbean, which will be played under the ICC Test Championship.

The Indian team had made into the semi-finals of the World Cup and one bad day ended their dreams of making it into the finals and probably lifting the trophy as well. They had defeated West Indies in the tournament as well, with ease and they will be ready to extract their revenge. With the Indian team not being able to make it into the finals, there are many changes possible in the squads for each format.

Hence, Team COC presents the Predicted India squads for the West Indies tour of 2019

The 2-Test series will be the first for the two teams under the inaugural ICC Test Championship rules and India cannot take the West Indies team for granted. They had defeated England in the Test series just before the World Cup and India came into the tournament after having played their last Test series down under and making history by beating Australia in their own home.

With Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw not fit to be considered and Hardik Pandya was seen struggling during the World Cup, some big changes may be made into the Test squad. Mayank Agarwal, KL Rahul, and Hanuma Vihari may be the chosen based on their performances in Australia; as Kohli, Pujara, and Rahane are expected to helm the middle order of the Indian Test side.

Also with Wriddhiman Saha being fit for selection, there will be a joust for a spot as a wicketkeeper with Rishabh Pant. Jadeja, Ashwin, and Kuldeep might be considered as spinners and Mohammad Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Jasprit Bumrah can be in the race for the fast bowlers’ spot, after Bumrah getting plenty of rest, as he is not likely to be considered for the limited-overs part which will be played before the Tests.

Predicted Test Squad:
Mayank Agarwal, KL Rahul, Hanuma Vihari, Virat Kohli (C), Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, Rishabh Pant (WK), Wriddhiman Saha (WK), Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammad Shami

With many questions being raised over the poor performance from the middle order and good outing from the India A team in the ongoing West Indies A tour, many new faces are to be expected to be given a chance in the playing XI.

Mayank Agarwal, Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer, Khaleel Ahmed, and Navdeep Saini are the prime contenders to be included in the team after they amazed everyone by their performances with the bat and ball on the tour and are already acclimatized to the conditions there. KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Pant, Karthik Shankar and others are expected to retain their places in the team.

Predicted ODI Squad:
Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Virat Kohli (C), Rishabh Pant (WK), Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer, Dinesh Karthik, Vijay Shankar, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammad Shami, Khaleel Ahmed, Navdeep Saini, Bhuvneshwar Kumar

The T20I team may see Krunal Pandya and Deepak Chahar replace Jadeja and Shami given Krunal’s performance in the T20I series against Australia and now against West Indies A. Deepak Chahar was very good for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2019 and impressed everyone on his international debut last year.

Predicted T20 Squad:
Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Virat Kohli (C), Rishabh Pant (WK), Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer, Dinesh Karthik, Vijay Shankar, Krunal Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Deepak Chahar, Khaleel Ahmed, Navdeep Saini, Bhuvneshwar Kumar
