After heavy rainfalls broke England’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 final's dream, Captain Heather Knight was gutted, saying it would be "a shame for the tournament" if rain ruined the semi-finals in Sydney.
On Thursday (March 1), the first Women's T20 World Cup 2020 semi-final match between India and England was abandoned due to heavy rain at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) without a ball being bowled – which saw India book the final berth being the Group A table-toppers.

With no reserve day for semi-finals in the tournament, England Women crashed out without even having the chance to have a crack at Women in Blue and Knight, regretting not having a reserve day, said it was frustrating as they didn't want to end their campaign this way.
However, England, who won three out of the four games, had a better net run-rate than India but the loss against South Africa in their opening game paved the way for India to make it to the finals.
Knight said after the game called off, “Frustrating, didn't want the World Cup to end this way but not much you can do about this. It would have been good to have a reserve day perhaps. That loss to South Africa cost us. We expected to reach the semi-finals and that we did. Undone by the weather.”
The skipper further added, “If both semi-finals are lost, it will be a sad time for the tournament. The reserve day would be useful in this situation and it's a shame for the tournament in general.”
She signed off by saying, “It's all very English isn't it, talking about the weather and getting knocked out. It felt that we gained a bit of momentum in the last few games and we were pumped up for the semifinals.”
Noteworthy, the second semi-final between Australia and South Africa will be played at the SCG starting 7 PM (13.30 PM IST) and if this game would also be washed out, then Proteas eves make the first final as they have one more point as well as the better run rate than the hosts.
