England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Friday (January 17) announced England's squad for the upcoming the ICC Women's Twenty20 World Cup 2020 to be held in Australia from February 21 with the final at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on March 8.

The ECB named a similar 15-member strong squad that won the T20 series 3-0 against Pakistan in December for the upcoming prestigious ICC event in Australia with only change in all-rounder Georgia Elwiss taking the place of Kirstie Gordon.

Heather Knight has been named the captain of England’s squad featuring other international stars likes of Danielle Wyatt, Sarah Glenn, and Katherine Brunt.

Ahead of the Women's T20 World Cup, England will play a Tri-series against India and Australia in Canberra and Melbourne which will be Lisa Keightley's first tournament as head coach.

In the last 2018 edition, England lost the summit clash and World T20 title as well to Australia and this time, they are aiming to snatch the title from the hosts for the first time since 2009.

Meanwhile, England head coach Keightley is looking forward to the challenge in Australia.

Keightley said, “It's really exciting to name our squad for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup and we're looking forward to getting out there and getting underway.”

She signed off by saying, “It was very useful to join the group in Malaysia and watch how they were getting on and since then we've had a training block out in La Manga. There are few better feelings in cricket than representing your country in a World Cup and I know everyone's really looking forward to the challenge.”

Noteworthy, England Women will kick start their T20 World Cup 2020 campaign against South Africa on February 23 after two warm up-fixtures against New Zealand and Sri Lanka.
