South African batsman Faf du Plessis is eyeing to make a comeback to national folds in the shortest format of the game with his stint in the upcoming Mzansi Super League (MSL) 2019.
Du Plessis, who will be again in charge of Paarl Rocks in the upcoming 2nd edition of the MSL, which will get underway from Friday, November 8, wasn’t part of SA’s recently concluded T20 series in India.
The 35-year-old played a few match-winning knocks for the Paarl Rocks in the last season and he is now expecting to do more of the same in the MSL 2019 with the hope of making a comeback to the national T20I side for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia next year.

Du Plessis told sport24.co.za, “For the fringe players it is an opportunity to say, pick me, I am smashing down the door. Because the standard (of the MSL) is so good.”
In the last edition of the MSL 2018, players like Anrich Nortje and Rassie van der Dussen were picked in South Africa's 2019 World Cup squad on the basis of their brilliant show in the tournament and the upcoming season will also do the same and the right-hander said it’s quite unfair to some players.
Du Plessis signed off by saying, “In some cases, it worked positively for players but in others, it worked negatively. Guys who were in form and then didn't perform in the Mzansi missed out on the World Cup.”
Noteworthy, the Paarl Rocks will kick start their 2019 MSL campaign against the Cape Town Blitz with a home game on 10 November at Boland Park, Paarl.
