As England are gearing up to kick-start their T20 World Cup 2020 preparations with New Zealand series from Friday, November 1 at Hagley Oval. Captain Eoin Morgan confirmed that he will make call on his cricketing future after mega ICC event in Australia next year.

After leading England to its maiden 50-over World Cup title at home in July, Morgan, England’s limited-overs captain, is eyeing even more special achievements with the talented bunch of national players.

Morgan told reporters on the eve of the first match of the five-match T20I series against the Black Caps, “I won’t say I’ll be finished after the next World Cup as I’d be afraid, I’ll only creep over the line and maybe fall off. I don’t want to let anyone down. I want to drive through the World Cup in Australia and then make a call after that.”

He continued, “We have a special group of players at the moment. I feel very lucky to lead that group and I think we can do something even more special down the line.”

England have called up five uncapped players for the New Zealand T20Is, as they rested Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Jos Buttler and Jason Roy for the tour, but Morgan insisted that there aren’t a lot of places up for grabs for the T20 World Cup squad.

However, the World Cup-winning captain said they are not only building for the 2020 World Cup, but also following T20 World Cup to be held in India in 2021 as well.

Morgan signed off, “There aren’t a lot of places up for grabs in our best XI and probably our final 15 for 12 months down the line. But we’re not only building for 12 months down the line but the following World Cup as well. I think we’re in a reasonably strong position. We’ll look to build our best XI and 15 for every series leading in to fine-tune roles and have absolute clarity in what we’re trying to do as a team.”
