WATCH- “It will be for a lifetime”- Suryakumar Yadav reflects on his T20 World Cup winning catch in final

India defeated South Africa in final of T20 WC 2024 in Barbados on June 29 to become 2-time champs.

Suryakumar Yadav catch in T20 WC final | XSuryakumar Yadav, now the captain of India's T20I team, reflected on his brilliant catch in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 exactly a month ago. India defeated South Africa in a crunch final in Barbados on June 29 to become two-time T20 World Cup champions.

Suryakumar Yadav was the toast of the win as he took an excellent running catch near the boundary to dismiss the dangerous David Miller on the first ball of the 20th over with Proteas needing 16 runs chasing 177.

Hardik Pandya bowled a wide full toss and Miller smacked it towards long off, but Suryakumar ran in from a wider position and caught the ball near the boundary padding. With momentum taking him over the ropes, Yadav threw the ball in the air, went over the ropes, came back in the field, and completed an excellent catch.

India ended up winning the T20 World Cup 2024 final by 7 runs, ending their 11-year drought of ICC Trophy wins.

"This will stay with me forever because I have done those things in my practice sessions a lot. But I did not think that it would come at that moment, World Cup Final and that situation. I am very grateful for that, to be doing something special on a special occasion. But yeah, as you said, that will remain with me forever. I think it will be for a lifetime,” Suryakumar Yadav said in a video shared by BCCI.

Virat Kohli (76), Hardik Pandya (3/20), and Jasprit Bumrah (2/18) were the main players in Men in Blue's seven-run victory over South Africa in the Barbados final on June 29. Kohli won the Player of the Final, while Bumrah was awarded Player of the Tournament.
