A special chartered flight by Air India landed at the Barbados Airport on Wednesday (July 3) to bring the Indian team back home after their T20 World Cup 2024 triumph.
Team India defeated South Africa by seven runs in the T20 World Cup final to lift the coveted trophy last Saturday (June 29). Since then, they have been stranded in the island nation due to the Hurricane Beryl threat.
The hurricane, which was initially category 3, escalated into category 4 during this time. The adverse weather condition forced the authorities to shut down air travel, resulting in the Indian squad staying indoors in their hotels.
With the weather finally clearing in Barbados, the BCCI arranged a special chartered flight for the team to return home.
The Men in Blue are expected to take the flight later today and will arrive in Delhi in the early hours of Thursday morning, July 4.
Upon their arrival, Rohit Sharma and his men are expected to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital. Earlier, PM Modi also congratulated the team through a phone call on their historic triumph.
