T20 World Cup 2024: WATCH – “One red to go, tick it,” Dravid encourages Kohli to add only missing ICC trophy in his cabinet

The only missing trophy in Kohli's cabinet is the World Test Championship title.

Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli | ICCAfter struggling for runs throughout the tournament, Virat Kohli rose to the occasion for India in the all-important T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa in Barbados on Saturday (June 29).

The batting stalwart played a brilliant knock of 59-ball 76, which propelled the Men in Blue to a stiff total of 176/7 in 20 overs after a horrible start. In the second half, Indian pacers did a fabulous job to restrict the Proteas to 169/8, securing a tense seven-run victory and ending the team’s long-standing ICC trophy drought.

It was the third ICC title for Kohli, who had previously won the ODI World Cup in 2011 and the Champions Trophy in 2013.

Following India’s historic win, ICC uploaded a video on Instagram, giving a sneak peek into the celebrations of Rohit Sharma’s team in the dressing room.

In the video, Virat Kohli can be seen clicking pictures with the trophy. Once his photo session was done, Kohli gave a ‘high-five’ to Dravid, who has a special message for the star batter.

Dravid encouraged Kohli to go for the only remaining trophy in his cabinet i.e. the World Test Championship.

“All three white ticked off, one red to go, tick it,” Dravid can be heard saying to Kohli in the viral video.

Virat Kohli has come close to winning the WTC title in 2021 and 2023 but unfortunately, India lost in the final both times against New Zealand and Australia respectively.

Having announced his retirement from T20Is, Kohli will now focus on ODIs and Tests only. He will be determined to win the WTC next year if India reach the final.
