Team India qualified for the T20 World Cup 2024 final with an emphatic 68-run victory over England in the second semi-final at the Providence Stadium, Guyana on Thursday (June 27).
After finishing the match, Rohit Sharma’s men travelled straight to Barbados to take part in the final of the tournament against South Africa.
Ahead of the title clash on Saturday (June 29), India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah expressed that a short turnaround time might a blessing in disguise for them.
"It is a good thing sometimes when you don't have a lot of time to overplan or confuse yourself or complicate things. So you know, you are straight on the flight, rest and recover and no time to think and no complications," Bumrah said while speaking to ICC presenter Sanjana Ganesan.
During the chat, Bumrah also lauded Rohit Sharma's captaincy in the tournament, saying that the latter gives the players freedom to express themselves.
"Rohit Sharma has been absolutely phenomenal. Even in the previous World Cup you know, he has been proactive, he gives a lot of freedom to his players, he lets the players express themselves. When he feels the right time, he shares his own experience during the match. So ya, it feels really great and I feel very happy playing under him and the confidence of the group is also very high," he remarked.
Team India’s campaign in this World Cup has been flawless so far. The Men in Blue defeated Ireland, Pakistan and USA in the group stage matches in New York while their fixture against Canada was abandoned due to wet outfield in Florida.
Subsequently, the Indian team travelled to the Caribbean for the Super 8 round, where they triumphed over Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Australia to enter the semis.
In the semi-final, India outclassed the defending champions England in all facets of the game to make it to the final for the first time since 2014.
