T20 World Cup 2024: WATCH – Dravid consoles distraught Kohli as star batter falls for single-digit score in semis vs England

Kohli's dismissal looked ugly as he went back to the pavilion with a dejected face.

Virat Kohli was cleaned up by Reece Topley | GettyIndia’s star batter Virat Kohli is having a terrible time in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, currently taking place in the USA and West Indies.

After a string of low scores in the group stage and Super 8 round, Kohli endured another failure in the semi-final against England in Guyana on Thursday (June 27).

On a slow pitch, the right-hander found it tough to get going while opening the innings. Kohli took five balls to open his account and got out after scoring 9 off 9 balls.

England pacer Reece Topley dismissed him on the fourth delivery of the third over. Two balls earlier, Kohli had flicked Topley for a brilliant six over mid-wicket but the left-arm quick bounced back to get the prized scalp sooner than later.

Virat Kohli perished as he was looking to play a similar wristy flick but was beaten by the movement and the ball hit the top of his leg-stump. The dismissal looked ugly as Kohli went back to the pavilion with a dejected face.

Later on, the cameras panned to the Indian dugout, where India head coach Rahul Dravid was seen consoling the distraught Virat Kohli, who was sitting beside Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja.

Here’s the video:

Before this semi-final knock, Kohli’s scores in the ongoing T20 World Cup read - 1, 4, 0, 24, 37, and 0. It will be interesting to see if he gets a chance to make amends in the final or not in case India qualify for the title clash by beating England.
