Pakistan suffered a shocking first-round exit from the ongoing T20 World Cup following two consecutive defeats against the USA and India.

While the Men in Green defeated Canada, the qualification chances for Super 8 were hanging in balance as they had to depend on the outcome of the USA versus Ireland clash.

As it turned out, the match ended in a no-result and Pakistan failed to qualify for the next round. Rain and wet outfield in Florida forced the abandonment even without toss happening as USA progressed to Super 8s from Group A alongside India.

The Babar Azam-led side ended their dismal campaign with a consolation three-wicket win over Ireland in the final group-stage fixture.

Amid the debacle, Pakistan head coach Gary Kristen reportedly said that there is no unity in the team and a lack of support for each other.

“There’s no unity in Pakistan’s team. They call it a team, but it isn’t a team. They aren’t supporting each other; everyone is separated, left and right. I’ve worked with many teams, but I’ve never seen such a situation,” Kirsten was quoted as saying by Geo News.

The statements were initially ascribed to Kirsten speaking at a news conference, but it was later discovered that they were from a chat he had with the team, which was leaked by the Pakistani media.

Meanwhile, former India cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra has stated that the reported remarks by Kirsten after Pakistan’s T20 World Cup exit has worked as 'ghee on fire'.

"Allegedly Gary Kirsten has said the Pakistan team is not a team at all, that they are looking to pull each others' legs, there are groups created and everyone is divided, they play together but don't do anything like playing together, the five fingers don't combine to make a fist. It's been said that he said that in the dressing room and that thing has come out," Chopra said in a video posted on his YouTube channel.

Despite Kirsten denying giving those remarks, Chopra added that anything can be leaked in Pakistan cricket, particularly after a terrible campaign.

"Gary Kirsten has probably said that he didn't say anything like that but Pakistan cricket is like a strainer. Whatever you put, it leaks from the other end. Since it's about Pakistan cricket and a bad campaign, you are reminded of one thing - success has many fathers and failure is an orphan. It worked like ghee on fire," he elaborated.
