Pakistan took on Ireland in their final Group A T20 World Cup 2024 match in Florida on June 16. Both the teams are playing for pride here, as they have been knocked out from the race for the Super 8s stage.
Pakistan won the toss and chose to bowl first. The Babar Azam-led side made one change with Abbas Afridi replacing Naseem Shah. Shaheen Afridi (3/22) and Imad Wasim (3/8) ran rout as Ireland batters failed against Pakistan bowlers.
The top five Irish batters departed for single digits. Gareth Delany top scored with 31 off 19 balls, including three sixes and one boundary. Joshua Little also chipped in with 22 off 18 deliveries. Mark Adair and George Dockrell chipped in with double digits as well. Ireland could only manage 106/9 in 20 overs as a result.
However, during the Ireland innings, a scary incident happened when two Pakistani players collided to take a catch.
The incident happened in the 14th over of Ireland’s innings. Imad bowled a full-length delivery and Adair went for a big shot towards the cow corner but he got more height than distance.
Usman Khan and Shaheen Afridi converged to take the catch. However, both collided in the effort, but Shaheen managed to safely pouch the catch and hold onto it.
