Canada cricket team gifted their signed jersey to Rahul Dravid | GettyTeam India’s final group stage match against Canada in the T20 World Cup 2024 was abandoned due to a wet outfield in Florida on Saturday (June 15).

After the no-result, India head coach Rahul Dravid made a heartwarming gesture by visiting the Canadian locker room.

Dravid, whose tenure as India coach expires after this T20 World Cup, had a heartfelt message for the Canada players as their World Cup campaign came to an end.

“Just thanks a lot. Firstly, just want to acknowledge and appreciate the fantastic contribution that you guys have made to this tournament. I think all of us recognise the struggles and the challenges that all of you have to do to be able to play this sport. It’s not easy,” Dravid said in a video posted by the ICC on their social media handle.

Dravid also recalled his time when he played in Scotland and highlighted the challenges that an associate nation faces when it comes to cricket.

“I understand that having played actually as a cricketer in Scotland, way back, I think in 2003, so I know what the struggle is like for an associate country,” he stated.

Dravid acknowledged the sacrifices made by the Canadian cricketers and called them as inspirations.

“So you guys, honestly are an inspiration to all of us. To show us that we love the game, truly, the kind of sacrifices, you guys are willing to make, to play this tournament,” the Indian coach remarked.

“All I will say is that keep taking it forward. You guys are inspiring, not only other people but I’m sure you’re inspiring young boys and girls in your own countries,” he concluded.
