WATCH: “EK 601 to Dubai and then…,” Wasim Akram’s brutal dig at Pakistan team after T20 World Cup 2024 exit

USA qualified for the Super 8 stage alongside India from Group A.

Pakistan cricket team | GettyLegendary pacer Wasim Akram took a brutal dig at the Pakistan team as he revealed their plans after the first-round exit from the T20 World Cup 2024.

The Men in Green failed to qualify for the Super 8s after the USA versus Ireland match was washed out in Lauderhill, Florida on Friday (June 14).

Rain and wet outfield forced the abandonment even without toss happening as USA progressed to the next round from Group A alongside India.

After this result, Akram congratulated the USA team for making it to the Super 8s while also adding that Pakistan's next plan should board the flight back home.

"Yeah, absolutely. And congratulations to Team USA. They've done amazingly well when you talk about globalisation of the game. This is it USA qualifying for Super Eights. They deserve to be there. They had beaten Pakistan in the round match. So they are there. And for Pakistan, whats the plan, EK 601 to Dubai and then to the respective cities. And then we see what happens from there onwards," Akram said in a video posted by the ICC on their social media handle.

Pakistan, the runners-up of the 2022 edition of T20 World Cup, couldn’t live up to the expectations in the ongoing marquee event. They suffered a shocking Super Over defeat at the hands of USA in their campaign opener, followed by a narrow six-run loss against arch-rivals India.

While Babar Azam’s team bounced back to defeat Canada by seven wickets, their elimination from the tournament was decided after the match between USA and Ireland was abandoned due to inclement weather.

Pakistan will take on Ireland in their last group-stage match in Florida on Sunday (June 16).
