T20 World Cup 2024: WATCH- Kamran Akmal makes racist “12 baj gaye” remark on Sikh Arshdeep Singh; Harbhajan Singh reacts

Arshdeep Singh  | GettyFormer Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal has received widespread criticism on social media following India's six-run victory against Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup match on Sunday (June 9) at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

A video that has gone viral on social media shows Akmal reacting to the match on a live feed on a Pakistani television channel and making a statement that has upset cricket fans in India since he appears to be attacking Arshdeep based on his faith.

Kamran, who was part of ARY News' cricket panel, made fun of Arshdeep over his Sikh religion before he was going to bowl the final over of the match in New York.

"Kuch bhi ho sakta hai... 12 baj gaye hai,” Akmal said and burst into laughter.

Kisi Sikh ko nahi dena chaiye 12 baje over," another guest on the show then added to Akmal's joke.

While cricket fans on the internet were furious with Kamran Akmal for his racial joke on Arshdeep Singh, former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh also took to X and shared his disgust for the ex-Pakistani cricketer’s thinking about the Sikh religion.

Lakh di laanat tere Kamraan Akhmal.. You should know the history of sikhs before u open ur filthy mouth. We Sikhs saved ur mothers and sisters when they were abducted by invaders, the time invariably was 12 o’clock . Shame on you guys.. Have some Gratitude @KamiAkmal23,” Harbhajan posted.
