India will take on arch-rivals Pakistan in their second Group A fixture of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. This match will be played on June 9, 2024, at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

Rohit Sharma and his team are in fantastic form, having defeated Ireland in the tournament opener. In contrast, Pakistan suffered a shocking Super Over defeat over co-hosts in the United States.

India has gone unbeaten in their last five Twenty20 Internationals. Meanwhile, Pakistan has lost three of its past five matches.

Pakistan legend Waqar Younis decided to weigh in on his prediction for the match and felt that the pitch conditions would make it an even encounter.

"My heart says Pakistan but from what I’ve seen so far in this tournament the pitch in New York is very much for the faster bowlers. So, it evens it out a little bit just purely because of the surface in New York," he said on Star Sports.

His one-time bowling partner and former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram also shared his prediction for the mega encounter.

"If we look at India’s form, India generally is a better team. Better team in a way that they’re favorites heading into that game. I will give 60% to India and 40% to Pakistan. But, it’s T20I, one good inning, one good spell, the game can change quickly. I think everybody is looking forward to the game of the tournament," he said.

Many consider the New York pitch to be an unpredictable surface, and it was highlighted during India's opening match against Ireland due to uneven bounce. Following the match, the ICC announced that they are working to enhance the surface's quality.

India has also dominated Pakistan in the Twenty20 World Cup, with a 6-1 record. The last time these teams met in the T20 World Cup was in 2022 at the MCG, where India won by four wickets.
