One of the traffic signals near New York's World Trade Center (WTC) apparently 'went out' on Thursday, just as T20 World Cup co-hosts the United States were about to write cricket history.

The Group A game in Dallas required four from the host team to force a 'Super Over' tiebreaker. The game was shown live on a huge screen at the World Trade Center in New York City.

And, just as Pakistan's Haris Rauf ran in to give the final ball to USA's Nitish Kumar, the traffic signal at the World Trade Center reportedly halted for a few seconds.

After Kumar's boundary tied the game at 159 runs each, another Indian-origin player in the US team, engineer-cum-fast-bowler Saurabh Netravalkar, became an American hero by limiting Pakistan to 13 runs in the 'Super Over' in response to the USA's 18, sparking historic celebrations in the US camp.

Aside from the joyous scenes on the field at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, US supporters on the streets of New York jumped for delight while watching it on the big screen.

Here is the video:

The United States, who upset rivals Canada in the tournament's opening game, is now leading Group A with two wins.

It is the second Test-playing nation that the US squad has defeated in a T20I in less than a month, following their victory over Bangladesh in the series ahead of the World Cup.

This is also Pakistan's first T20I defeat against a team that is not a full ICC member.
