Pakistan keeper-batter Azam Khan came in for some abuse and heckling at the Grand Prairie cricket ground in Dallas, Texas in the T20 World Cup 2024 match against the USA on June 6.
The wicketkeeper-batsman, who was not asked to do duty behind the stumps against the USA and played purely as a batsman, was dismissed lbw for zero by spinner Nosthush Kenjige off the first ball he faced.
While walking back to the dressing room at the Grand Prairie Stadium, a fan allegedly shouted an abuse targeted at Khan's heavy frame and fitness. In a video showing the confrontation, Khan could be seen looking angrily at a fan, giving a deadly stare before lashing out a few words on his way back.
As alleged by some on social media, the fan called Khan "mota haathi" (fat elephant), which angered the 25-year-old cricketer.

Not only this, but a few spectators brought some not-so-good signs aimed at Azam Khan’s burly frame. Another video showed some fans holding up a sign that read: “Azam Khan’t stop eating.” This was a dig at the youngster’s poor fitness and inability to be flexible on the ground.

Meanwhile, the USA created history by defeating Pakistan in the super over of the match, after the regulation 20-overs-a-side affair ended in both the teams scoring 159 runs.
Mohammad Amir sprayed the ball for wides in the super over as the USA made 17/1 in 6 balls. Then USA’s Saurabh Netravalkar bowled a brilliant super over and conceded just 13 runs as his team won the game by winning the super over.
