Jasprit Bumrah claimed two wickets by conceding only six runs in his three overs | GettyThe pitch served for the T20 World Cup 2024 games at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York has come under the scanner.

First-ever international match at the venue between Sri Lanka and South Africa on Monday (June 3) turned out to be low-scoring and dull. Since then, the playing surface has been drawing flak from all quarters.

The criticism went to the next level after Ireland’s innings folded for a paltry 96 against India in Group A clash at Nassau County ground.

It took the Indian bowlers just 16 overs to bundle out Ireland. No Irish batters managed to touch the 30-run mark. Gareth Delany was the top scorer with 26 off 14 balls.

While Hardik Pandya (3/27 in 4 overs) claimed three wickets for India, Jasprit Bumrah (2/6 in 3 overs) and Arshdeep Singh (2/35 in 4 overs) returned with two scalps each. Akshar Patel (1/3 in 1 over) and Mohammed Siraj (1/13 in 3 overs) also picked up wicket apiece.

Cricket experts on social media platform X were left disappointed by what they show in the Ireland innings and raised concerns about the nature of the pitch at the newly constructed stadium in New York.
