Virat Kohli, the star India batter, had his first hit in the nets as the Men in Blue prep for their T20 World Cup 2024 opener against Ireland in New York on June 5. India is grouped with Pakistan, Ireland, the USA, and Canada in Group A.
India spent nearly three hours training at the Nassau County Cricket Ground on Monday evening. Kohli looked impressive in the nets and batted for nearly 40 minutes to adjust to the conditions in New York.
Virat Kohli missed India's practice game against Bangladesh in New York on June 1 since he arrived only the day before the game. Kohli was rested for the match.
During his 40-minute net session, Kohli faced Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, and Yuzvendra Chahal. Kohli took his time assessing the conditions before going ahead and playing his shots.
Virat Kohli batted alongside Suryakumar Yadav in the nets and looked in complete control of the proceedings. Kohli has headed into the T20 World Cup with a lot of confidence after having won the Orange Cap in IPL 2024 with 741 runs in 15 matches.
On the other hand, Hardik Pandya had another lengthy session with the bat in the nets. According to Star Sports, the all-rounder was given simulated circumstances to help him perform as a finisher. Hardik was the last to leave the practice facility on Monday following the focused batting session.
