T20 World Cup 2024: Virat Kohli might miss India’s only warmup game as he takes short break post IPL- Report

India's T20 World Cup warmup game will be against Bangladesh in New York on June 1.

Virat Kohli | GettyVirat Kohli, the ace India batter, will likely miss the only warmup game India will play ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies that begins on June 1. This is reported as Kohli has taken a short break after the IPL.

Along with Kohli, Sanju Samson is also expected to leave later than scheduled, as will Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya. The first batch of Indian team players went on Saturday, while a second is set to fly out on Monday.

RCB batter Kohli completed his IPL 2024 with 741 runs with one century and 5 fifties and is the current Orange Cap.

Royals. Samson has informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that the reason for delaying his departure is ‘personal work in Dubai’.

“Kohli had informed us way beforehand that he will be joining the team late and that is why the BCCI has kept his visa appointment for a later date. He is expected to fly out to New York in the early morning of May 30th. The BCCI has agreed to his request,” a BCCI official told The Indian Express.

India captain Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Shubman Gill, Mohammed Siraj, Akshar Patel, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant and the support staff left Mumbai on Saturday night.
