Shimron Hetmyer returns, Rovman Powell named captain as West Indies announce T20 World Cup 2024 squad

West Indies will co-host the marquee event alongside USA.

 

Rovman Powell | GettyTwo-time champions West Indies on Friday (May 3) announced their squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

Alongside USA, West Indies will co-host the marquee event that will be played from June 1 to June 29. Rovman Powell will be leading the Caribbean side in the global T20 tournament.

Young pace sensation Shamar Joseph, who rose to fame after his stunning exploits in the Test series against Australia earlier this year, has been included in the squad that also see the return of Shimron Hetmyer.

Veteran campaigners such as Jason Holder, Nicholas Pooran, Andre Russell are also part of the 15-member squad.

Part of Group C alongside Afghanistan, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Uganda, West Indies will open their campaign on June 2 against PNG in Guyana.
