Former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan believes that if Mohammad Shami is fit and available, he could be a game-changer for Team India in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies.

Shami performed exceptionally well in the 2023 ODI World Cup, emerging as the highest wicket-taker with 24 wickets in seven matches, boasting an impressive average of 10.70 and a strike rate of 12.20.

The senior pacer is currently recovering from an ankle injury and will miss the first two Tests against England at home. Despite not playing T20I cricket since 2022, Shami is being considered as a probable member of India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.

Well, Zaheer named Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Arshdeep Singh as the first three pacers for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, while added that Shami could be the game-changer for the Men in Blue.

Zaheer Khan said on Colors Cineplex: “I feel you will see (Jasprit) Bumrah and (Mohammed) Siraj for sure. After that, Arshdeep (Singh), you will get a slight variation because he is a left-armer. He bowls good yorkers. So that is an added advantage.”

He added, “Then I believe (Mohammed) Shami because if he is fit and available, he can be an X-factor option for you during the World Cup. So, I will pick these four pacers because four pacers should go for sure.”
